1. Legal and Ethical Foundations

  • Operate only within what is permitted and legal.

  • Consult a legal advisor or sex-worker–rights organisation if uncertain.
     

Set clear service boundaries

  • Define explicitly what you do (and don't) offer.

  • Provide written descriptions and discuss boundaries before each session.

  • A clear service agreement prevents misunderstandings and builds trust.
     

 Practice informed and ongoing consent

  • Gain explicit verbal and/or written consent for every form of touch.

  • Reconfirm and check in throughout the session (“Would you like me to continue here?”).

  • Establish a safe word, gesture, or signal that ends the session immediately if needed.
     

2. Professional Environment and Presentation


Space setup

  • Clean, private, well-ventilated, and warmly lit environment.

  • Fresh towels and linens for every client.

  • Hygiene station or bathroom available for clients.

  • Use high-quality, body-safe oils and products.
     

Professional presence

  • Dress intentionally and hygienically, sensual yet respectful.

  • Maintain impeccable personal hygiene.

  • Keep distractions minimal (silenced phone, calm music, no interruptions).
     

Transparent business practices

  • Use professional booking methods and digital or printed receipts.

  • Provide:

    • Intake and consent forms

    • Privacy/confidentiality notice

    • Clear pricing, cancellation, and refund policies

  • Have liability insurance if available for your type of work.
     

3. Safety for Both Practitioner and Client


Client screening​

  • Decline clients who seem intoxicated, aggressive, or disrespectful of boundaries.

  • If you sense there is any coercion then do not proceed.

Practitioner safety

  • Tell a trusted person when and where sessions occur (or use an online check-in).

  • Have an emergency plan or silent alert app if working alone.

  • Never work under the influence.
     

Health and cleanliness

  • Disinfect surfaces and tools after each session.

  • Keep a first aid kit handy.

  • If sexual contact is ever included get regular health checkups.
     

4. Trauma Awareness and Emotional Safety


Trauma-informed approach

  • Understand how trauma can live in the body and influence touch responses.

  • Take training in trauma-informed care, consent-based touch, or somatic awareness.

  • Look for signs of dissociation, freeze, or discomfort, pause and check in.

  • Allow clients to process emotions without rushing or interpreting them.

  • Have a documented Trauma Informed Statement
     

Emotional boundaries

  • Keep the container professional and well-defined.

  • Offer referrals to qualified therapists for deeper psychological healing.

  • Use grounding practices before and after sessions (breathing, shaking, journaling, cleansing rituals).


5. Transparency, Trust, and Professional Growth


Independent reviews and accountability

  • Encourage clients to share feedback or reviews on independent platforms.

  • Public, third-party reviews build credibility and help prospective clients make informed choices.

  • Never post fake reviews or pressure clients or pay for reviews, authenticity is key.
     

Continued education

  • Regularly update your training: anatomy, consent, energy work, communication, trauma response.

  • Join professional networks where applicable.

  • Participate in peer supervision or mentorship to stay grounded and accountable.
